Covid-19 has disrupted life all over the world with industries bearing loses, businesses shutting down and people losing jobs. This time is especially difficult for less privileged who cannot financially afford to stay at home.
This outbreak has hit hard for the women artisans of Chitral who are already defying many challenges to be part of the financial cycle. They can no longer gather at our Mahraka Centre to learn new techniques, are unable to attend training and therefor their livelihood is severely affected.
In this remote valley where people have limited resources life is already tough, and not generating enough income to run households is a real challenge. But one thing is sure, even when the times are difficult, these women are tough, strong and resilient. They are hopeful that we all will able to fight and defeat this virus, if we remain careful and maintain social distancing.
